Typical Maine epoxy and polyaspartic coatings run about $4 to $8 per square foot, depending on prep, moisture and finish. Commercial work is often $5 to $12 per square foot, and metallic finishes run $7 to $12. The final price depends on prep and square footage, so every job starts with a free estimate from photos or a call, with an on-site visit when the job calls for one.

Applications and Performance

No. Professional polyurea and polyaspartic systems are 4 to 5 times thicker and 20 times more abrasion resistant than store-bought kits, and they are UV stable. Water-based kits tend to yellow, peel and wear through in 2 to 3 years.

The moisture vapor basecoat can handle 25 lbs of moisture per square inch, regardless of the moisture in the concrete. Many older Maine slabs were poured without a plastic vapor barrier, and spring snowmelt raises groundwater, so the basecoat is designed to hold a bond on concrete that is still passing vapor. A coating does not fix liquid water. Gutters, grading or a sump pump come first.

Basement floor coatings

No. Polyaspartic systems are engineered against hot tire pickup and plasticizer transfer, the common failure of standard epoxy. They also resist road salt, oil, gasoline, brake fluid and daily wear, and the UV-stable topcoat resists yellowing in south-facing garages.

Garage floor coatings

Yes. A seamless, non-porous coating seals the slab, which stops concrete dust from circulating through the HVAC system. It also removes the pores where mold and mildew thrive.

It adds usable living space and protects against moisture damage, mold and concrete deterioration. Any finish works in a basement: solid color, flake or metallic. Light colors brighten a dark basement.

Shops see heavier use, so the base coat is thicker. Anti-slip aggregate is optional near lifts and fluid areas. Shop floors resist dropped tools, rolling tool chests, motor oil, hydraulic fluid, solvents and gasoline.

Shop and workshop floors

Yes. The crew can work around existing equipment and phase the install to keep part of the shop running. Shop floors take 1 to 2 days.

Yes. The polyurea system is rated for heavy point loads, including car lifts and heavy machinery.

Diamond grinding removes surface contamination. Oil that has soaked deep into the concrete needs a specialized primer.

Warehouses, manufacturing plants, retail, restaurants, breweries, auto dealerships, fire stations, veterinary clinics, schools and churches. If it has a concrete floor, it can be coated. Projects run from 500 to 50,000+ square feet, and large projects get a phased plan.

Commercial floor coatings

Yes. Installs can be done in the evening, on weekends or in phases, and many jobs run overnight. Additional cost may vary. Fast-curing polyaspartic can return most spaces to service in as little as 24 hours.

Yes. Commercial systems are rated for forklift traffic, heavy rolling loads and chemical exposure. Food-safe options are available for restaurants, breweries, food processing and commercial kitchens.

Acrylic flake floors are textured and are not slippery, even when wet. For wet areas, loading docks and spots near lifts, anti-slip aggregate or textured finishes can be added to the topcoat.

Finishes and Design

Colored acrylic chips are broadcast into a wet polyurea base coat until the floor is fully covered. The excess is scraped off and the floor is sealed with a UV-stable polyaspartic clear topcoat. It is installed in garages, basements, workshops, commercial spaces, showrooms and retail.

Acrylic flake flooring

More than 100 blends in 7 collections: Signature, Brownstone, Greystone, Modern, Marble, Insignia and Garage. Custom blends are possible.

The crew guides the flow and color distribution by hand with the pigments you choose, and every floor develops its own pattern. Pigment colors include silver, gold, copper, pearl, ocean blue, emerald and custom blends.

Metallic epoxy floors

The pigment is suspended in thick epoxy under a high-build UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat. Metallic works in garages as well as basements, showrooms and lobbies.

Existing coatings must be fully removed before metallic epoxy is applied.

Sheen runs from satin matte (about 100 grit) to medium (400 grit) to high gloss (1500 to 3000 grit). The exposure can be cream, salt-and-pepper or full aggregate.

Polished concrete floors

Most concrete can be. Results vary with the age, hardness and condition of the slab. Very soft or damaged concrete may need prep or a coating instead.

Polishing is mechanical and permanent, with no topical coating to peel. It needs only dust mopping and damp mopping, with no waxing or recoating. Coatings give more color and decorative effects.

A basic design consultation is included with every job. Complex work, such as logos, multi-zone patterns and 3D renderings, may carry a design fee that is credited toward the installation.

Custom floor design

Yes. Colors are matched from Pantone codes, hex codes or physical samples, and test swatches are made first. Logos, borders and patterns are set in with stencils and hand-applied techniques.

Samples and project photos guide the choice. Helpful things to have: inspiration photos, rough measurements, how the floor is used, vector logo art and exact brand colors, and photos of the room lighting.

Installation, Care, and Warranty

A free consultation and quote come first. Then the crew diamond grinds the whole floor for adhesion, which is the most critical step, and fills cracks, chips and expansion joints with flexible polyurea joint filler. A thick polyurea or polyaspartic base coat follows, then decorative flake broadcast to full coverage or a solid color or metallic finish, and a UV-stable clear polyaspartic topcoat.

Most residential garages of 1,000 square feet or under are finished in a single day. Shop floors take 1 to 2 days. Larger commercial flake jobs take 2 to 3 days.

A garage floor is walkable within a few hours and ready for vehicles in as little as 24 hours. In a basement, light foot traffic is fine within hours and furniture can go back in 24 to 48 hours, depending on heat and ventilation. Shop floors are ready for equipment in 24 to 48 hours.

Sweep or blow out debris and mop with warm water as needed. The surface is non-porous, so stains wipe up.

The warranty is as specified in your project agreement. It covers materials and workmanship under normal use. It excludes misuse, neglect, chemical exposure beyond specified tolerances and modifications by others.
